The French Culture Centre

The French Culture Centre (IFU), which is a part of the Culture and Co-operation Department (Service de Coopération et d'Action Culturelle) of the French Embassy in Ukraine, was opened in Kyiv in 1994. Like with other French culture centres abroad (there are over 150 of them), the Centre reports to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of France and its main purpose is the popularization of the French language and culture in Ukraine, and establishment of efficient and long-term co-operation with the culture institutions of Ukraine.

The French Culture Centre is a central element of the chain that consists of five other regional centres created in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, L’viv and Odesa, and The Centre co-ordinates the activities of these centres. There is a large and hospitable media room, a video hall and an art gallery there.

The joint projects of the Centre and “Master Klass” include French Film Show at the Cinema Club.
