Concert “Shakespeare and Music”. Chamber orchestra “Collegium Kyiv”, conductor Paul Henry

29 April 2010

On 28th April all visitors to “Master Klass” were able to feel the musical atmosphere of the creative work of the great British dramatist William Shakespeare at the concert “Shakespeare and Music”.

Both admirers of the unique author’s creativity and amateurs of musical art in general, have come to listen to scores by British composers which were omitted, but could have been included in the films based on the works of William Shakespeare. And it was not in vain, as the chamber orchestra “Collegium Kyiv” that performed those pieces of music within the framework of the concert, surprised all and premiered an arrangement of the original music by Nino Rota from the film “Romeo and Juliette” made by Andriy Bondarenko. Music by William Walton from the film “Richard III”, Overture and Suite “Wasps” by Ralph Van-Williams, and many other pieces of music that had never been heard by a Ukrainian audience were also played at the concert.

British conductor Paul Henry, who is already known to visitors to “Master Klass” owing to the series of concerts “Three Hundred Years of British Music”, conducted the orchestra.
